This Kalamazoo County Silent Observer  program began in 1974 and operates as an independant organization. The concept has developed into a combination of efforts by local media, businesses, civic and social clubs, law enforcement agencies, and the public. Donations of airtime, newspaper space, and reward monies are welcome and appreciated, and are important elements in the program's effectiveness.

Silent Observer of Kalamazoo County is comprised of diverse, active and dedicated community representatives. It is the vision of Silent Observer  to empower the community to have safer neighborhoods, schools, and work environments by providing a voice that citizens can use to stand against criminals without fear of retaliation.
